WETSUITS
Safety is paramount in the Genesis Triathlons, and we are committed to ensuring the well-being of all athletes, regardless of their swimming experience or skill level. With advancements in neoprene technology, wetsuits have become a valuable tool in enhancing safety and comfort during the swim portion of the race.
Our wetsuit policy is designed with the safety of all athletes in mind, taking into consideration both cold and warm water conditions:
When the water temperature is below 70 degrees Fahrenheit, wearing a wetsuit is recommended.
When the water temperature is 64 degrees Fahrenheit or less, wetsuits are mandatory.
When the water temperature is 60 degrees Fahrenheit or less, wetsuits are mandatory, and athletes must acclimate by entering the water before the start of the race.
When the water temperature is 55 degrees Fahrenheit or less, booties are also mandatory.
Conversely, when the water temperature reaches 76 degrees Fahrenheit or higher, wetsuits are not allowed due to the risk of heat stroke or exhaustion.
Renting a wetsuit from us is simple and convenient. Just email Kenny@3disciplines.com with your size and type preference by Tuesday night before the event, and we'll have it reserved for you. A $10 reservation fee applies, with the rental fee of $50 payable in cash on race day. It is imperative that the wetsuit is returned clean and undamaged to avoid additional charges.
We highly recommend getting in the water before the race to acclimate to the wetsuit, especially if you're not accustomed to wearing one. Sizing is generally true to size, so selecting your usual size should suffice.
We offer various types of wetsuits to suit different preferences and needs:
Full wetsuits provide coverage from neck to ankles for maximum buoyancy and warmth.
Sleeveless wetsuits offer freedom of movement while still providing coverage to the ankles.
Shorty wetsuits are ideal for newcomers to the sport, offering buoyancy with a sleeveless design and legs cut above the knees.
Your safety and comfort are our top priorities, and we strive to provide you with the tools and resources necessary to make your race experience enjoyable and successful.
