Transition Area
NOTE: There is NO PACKET PICKUP. There is TRANSITION CHECK-IN Race Morning, have your id ready. Your race bag will be waiting for you at your spot on the transition area rack.
This statement outlines the regulations and procedures regarding the transition area for participants in a triathlon or similar multisport competition. Here's a breakdown of the key points:
Restricted Access: The transition area is strictly off-limits to non-participants, including friends, family, and spectators. This rule is enforced for the safety of the athletes and their equipment.
Fenced Area with Inflatables: The transition area is enclosed with fencing and marked with inflatable arches indicating entry and exit points. Timing mats are placed at these points.
Assigned Spots: Each participant is assigned a rack spot within the transition area based on their race number. This spot will have their gear bag, race timing chip, and strap.
Space Management: Participants are urged to use only the necessary space for their gear to accommodate fellow competitors. Typically, each participant is allocated around 18 inches to 2 feet of space. Please rack your bike with the tip of the seat post with the front wheels facing the bike out inflatable.
Closure before Event: The transition area closes approximately 20 minutes before the start of the event, with potential variations depending on the swim start distance.
Clearance for Athletes: The transition area remains closed until all bikes are off the course and athletes have transitioned from biking to running. Only then is it open for athletes to retrieve their gear.
Athlete Responsibility: Event management is not responsible for athlete gear. It's the responsibility of each participant to label and keep track of their equipment.
Overall, these guidelines are crucial for the smooth operation and safety of the event, ensuring that participants can efficiently transition between disciplines without interference from non-participants and with minimal risk to their gear.
