OLYMPIC DISTANCE EVENTS

Distances: 1500 meters swim / 24.5 mile bike / 10k run

Start Time: 6:30 AM

Race Cut-off Time: 11:30 AM. Transition Area will be broken down starting at 12:00 PM.

Divisions: Individual or Relay (2 or 3 person teams)

COURSE INFORMATION

The Olympic Distance waves will begin at 6:30 AM and will be followed by the Sprint Distance waves.

The start line is adjacent to the transition area. The finish line is behind the RecPlex/Ice Arena, on the lakefront path.

Swim Course: The Swim Start is on the east side of Lake Andrea. Lake Andrea is a spring feed lake. Water temperature is typically the mid to lower 70's. Decisions regarding wetsuits will be announced at the start of the race on Sunday. The Olympic Distance swim course is a rectangle, finishing where it starts. The start and finish are on a sandy beach. Lifeguards, kayaks and platforms line the entire course. The course is defined with large & small buoys. Swimmers are required to wear a colored swim cap appropriate to their wave. ALL athletes MUST report to the swim start 15 minutes prior to their scheduled wave start.

Transition: The transition area is east of the swim start/finish. Bikes MUST be WALKED in the transition area. Mount and dismount lines are outside the transition area. Bikes MAY NOT be removed from the transition until the last bike has completed the bike course and exited the transition area for the start of the run. Anyone removing a bike from transition before the announcement is made to remove bikes will be automatically disqualified.

Bike Route: *The Olympic bike course is 2 loops* The bike course is on gently rolling country roads with minimal turns on the Olympic course. The road surface is a mix of asphalt and concrete. A combination of course marshals and police are stationed throughout the course and at all turns. Each turn is marked with brightly colored duct tape. Bikers are required to wear an approved, strapped helmet and earbuds are not allowed. All bikes are required to display a bike number.

Run Route: The run course is flat and fast. The Olympic Distance course winds around Lake Andrea, and includes a section of crushed gravel trail (the Prairie Farms Trail).

Finish Line: The Finish line is located inside Prairie Springs Park, on the east side of Lake Andrea, along the lakefront path. Race Hydration and Panera Bread will be provided to athletes.

Aid Stations: Aid stations are available 4 times on the Olympic course.
