TRANSITION & GEAR CHECK

Transition 1 (T1) - Coordinator & Gear Check Medium Priority

Details

Watch over transition while athletes are swimming and also starting the bike. Also responsible for checking each athlete out as they go onto their ride making sure they have the mandatory gear. We will provide a checklist.

BIKE COURSE WARNING FLAGGERS

Bike Course Flagger - Top of Major Ascent Medium Priority

Hydration & Nutrition Station #1 - Transition #2 (T2) High Priority

Hydration & Nutrition Volunteers will be responsible for the setup and maintenance of the station. This is not complicated and we supply instructions either via email before the event OR onsite when you get there. These volunteer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, setup, teardown, maintenance of supplies, and helping the athletes as needed.

Safety Kayak(s) - Lake Láros Swim Course High Priority

Motorized Rescue Boat - Lake Láros Swim Course High Priority

The motorized rescue boat is in the water for quick rescue (if needed) and overall situational monitoring. Assisting the swimmers and kayakers when needed as well.

MEDICAL TEAM

Medical Team #1 - Swim Course & Roaming High Priority

Details

This medical team is on shore at the swim exit. They are there incase a swimmer has issues in the water and is brought to them OR a swimmer has issues when they exit. The swim course medical team should be near the swim finish timer so that as a time is recorded the medical team has a chance see the condition of the athletes exiting. This medical team transitions to our course roaming team on both the bike and the run helping any athlete that needs it along the way.

Medical Team #2 - T2 & Finish Line High Priority

Details

This medical team is stationary (unless called out elsewhere) at T2 and the Finish Line acting as a headquarters. Not only does this allow them to monitor athletes as they come in on the bike and go out on the run but they're also there for the finish line athletes.

Medical Team #3 - Bike Descent & Run Course Half Turnaround. High Priority

Details

This team will be stationed at the bottom of the biggest descent on the bike as athletes ride down the back side of the mountain, the most likely area for an accident. They may also be called elsewhere on the bike course if needed. Once most athletes have passed and a majority have started the run this medical team will transition to the half distance run course turnaround near the top of Snæfellsjökull on the mountain road.

Eventually transitioning to the top of the mountain road on Snæfellsjökull where the half distance run course turnaround is. Coordinates 64°49'43.8"N 23°43'58.9"W

RACE DAY MISC TASKS

Finish Line Area Setup/Maintenance Medium Priority

July 10, 2021

Details

Various volunteers responsible for helping with finish line tasks like putting up the inflatable, helping the timer, announcer, and cook with whatever they may need. Also in charge of organizing awards, handing out finisher items, restocking any items that need it, and keeping trash tidy.
