Race Policies
Race Policies
The following are policies that apply to the conducting of the race:
- USAT
TriTulare is a sanctioned USA Triathlon Event. All USAT rules must be followed. For a complete list of rules, please go to www.usatriathlon.org - Wave Starts
The Athlete is responsible for getting to the event with sufficient time to be ready for his/her swim wave. Waves are started and timed by pre-assigned numbers. Missing the start time will mean missing the event. The organizers will try to accommodate any unusual circumstances but there is no guarantee that such can be done. - Helmets
Properly fitting ANSI approved bicycle helmets must be worn during the bike portion of the event. Helmets must be fastened before mounting the bicycle and must remain fastened until the racer dismounts their bike at the end of the ride. Be sure to make your child aware of this important safety rule. - Disqualification
Athletes that finish the race but do not complete the total distance of the course (e.g., less than the required laps, short-cutting the course) will be disqualified. Unsportsman-like conduct is also grounds for disqualification. Volunteers will be monitoring the course and Transition Area for infractions. Disqualified athletes will receive a participation medal but will be ineligible for podium awards (i.e., 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in age group) and will not have their times posted. - Sportsmanship
Inappropriate and un-sportsmanlike conduct will not be tolerated. This includes behavior directed toward fellow athletes, fans, organizers, or volunteers. This includes behavior by parents as well as athletes. - Refunds
There are no refunds or transfers of registration. - Conducted Rain or Shine
- Race Numbers
Each racer will be provided with a numbered bib and some safety pins. The bibs must be worn on the front of the body during the run and must be clearly visible when the racer crosses the finish line. - Shoes
Shoes must be worn during the bike and the run portions of the race. Shoes must be laced or buckled-up prior to mounting the bicycle and must remain laced until the racer dismounts their bike at the end of the ride. Shoes must be properly laced during the run. - All rules are subject to the interpretation of the race officials, whose decision will be final.
A SPECIAL REMINDER: Athletes may not use the pool deck to begin transition (i.e. put on running shoes, change clothes). They must use the transition area provided. Athletes can wear flip flops or sandals to move from the pool area to transition, however those shoes may not be worn on the bike or run.
