From deep in the heart of Texas, this camp provides highly engaging & interactive instructions in the basics of adaptive triathlon through interactive drills and lectures in a safe, accessible environment.
It's geared to novice and intermediate levels, with an emphasis on first-timers.
You do not have to have prior triathlon experience or be proficient in all/any of the three disciplines.
The camp is intended and designed for adults, but is accepting applications from 16 years old and up. Juniors, 16-19 years old, will be asked for recommendations & will be vetted to determine compatibility with the camp demands.
This experience blends educational and practical sessions in a usable, dynamic manner that culminates with a sprint race experience. Athletes please to arrive by Wednesday noon and we will conclude on Sunday afternoon.

This camp is:
>designed & led by certified USA Paratriathlon coaches and assisted by USA cycling coaches, experienced para-athletes, and vetted volunteers.
>USAT Sanctioned
>meets and/or exceeds all the standards for being para-friendly as set forth by USA Paratriathlon
> is in compliance with SafeSport
>meets and/or exceeds the Safety Certification standards of USAT

ATHLETES: must meet criteria set forth by USAT competition rules: "Participation in the Adaptive Triathlon Division is available to all athletes with a medically verified physical, visual, neurological, or intellectual impairment that limits one or more major life activities. Formal Paratriathlon classification into approved categories is not required for participation in the Adaptive Triathlon Division nor does such classification status prohibit an athlete from participating in the Adaptive Triathlon Division." Note: In rare circumstances, race management reserves the right to request an athlete to present medical documentation of their eligibility.

This camp will offer the following specific divisions:
ATD1
Visually Impaired - Includes athletes who are: (a) less severe partially
sighted (b) more severe partially sighted c) who are totally blind,
from no light perception in either eye, to some light perception.
These athletes use one guide, which may be of a different gender.
Must ride a tandem during the bike segment.

Wheelchair - Athletes use a recumbent hand cycle for the bike and a
racing wheelchair for the run.

Ambulatory - In both bike and run segments, the athlete may use
approved prosthesis or other supportive devices. These athletes
ride upright bikes or trikes.

ATD2
Eligibility includes those with medically verified intellectual impairment including, but not limited to, Down’s Syndrome, autism, etc.

ATD3
Those eligible include but are not limited to those athletes with medically verified conditions such as TBI/PTSD, chronic diseases, congenital conditions, neurological conditions, etc.

ATD4
For athletes who race with another athlete who pulls, pushes, or propels the athlete through the race course.

REGISTRATION
Application closes: August 10, 2024. Maximum capacity is 20 confirmed athlete registrants. A waiting list will be utilized.
Cost: $95 - per athlete plus processing fees through June 21.
This is a USAT sanctioned event. Everyone participating must hold at least a Bronze level membership. Membership options are available during registration process.

Veterans & First Responders who meet eligibility criteria have no registration cost - [use code: service24 ], but may need to still purchase a USAT membership if you do not already have one.

ACCEPTANCE
To have the greatest impact, we purposefully design our camp size to have optimal coach to athlete ratio. Maximum capacity is 20 confirmed athlete registrants. Once registrations are processed, confirmation emails will be sent. In the acceptance confirmation email, you will get more details about what to bring. You will also get a personal phone call in advance from our camp staff so that we might get to know you, your situation, and be best prepared to serve you. Anyone not accepted will be notified by email. Limited financial assistance may be requested contingent on funds available.

A minimum number of 10 registered applicants will be required by August 10 for the camp to materialize. If this minimum is not met, all will be notified & will be given the decision from leadership to those registered.

We will do our best, but we cannot guarantee that tandem, hand cycle, or race chair equipment that needs to be borrowed, will be available or provided.

REFUND POLICY
This is a no refund, non-transferable event. A considerable amount of work and planning goes into this event. Refunding entry fees based on changes of participants schedules is not feasible as essentials and basic provisions must be ordered in advance. We appreciate your support and understanding.

Afternoon - Swimming Pool sessions - Gilleland Creek Pool

Evening - – strength/stretch/yoga session

Packet Pick Up and check-in at race venue. (There will be no race day packet pick up.)
9:00am-10:30am Open water Swim practice at race venue only for registered athletes who have checked in.

10:30am – 11am "Dynamic" Mandatory Athlete meeting at race venue.
We will actually walk through the venue including - parking; swim start, Pre T1; transition area; Bike mount & dismount line; finish line.

11:30am Snack break
Noon – 1pm - bike/run transition session
Clean up and meet at Texas Typhoon Waterpark
2pm – afternoon meal with special guest speakers including: Visually Impaired Paralympian - Kyle Coon.

PARA ENDURANCE ADAPTIVE TRIATHLON - Triathlon only

RACE
This is the first ever USAT sanctioned "adaptive athlete only" triathlon.
Join us in making history at this inaugural event taking place deep in the heart of Austin, Texas on September 22, 2024. 


PRODUCTION: Created and produced by USAT certified Paratriathlon race director and USAT certified Paratriathlon & USA Cycling coaches. This event meets and exceeds the standards for para-friendly course.

ATHLETES
Must meet criteria set forth by USAT competition rules: "Participation in the Adaptive Triathlon Division is available to all athletes with a medically verified physical, visual, neurological, or intellectual impairment that limits one or more major life activities. DIVISIONS:
ATD1   Awards - Male & Female 3 deep in these sub-divisions

Adaptive Triathlon Temporary Mobility Impairment (ATTMI)      
This division is a participatory category that allows athletes with some form of medically verified, significant, and temporary injury that would require accommodations for participation in multisport events.  These athlete’s results are not eligible for rankings or awards. 
 
COST: $125 plus tax and fees
