Wednesday - Swim Course
Good evening! We wanted to give you an idea of the swim course for the 2021 Crisfield Triathlon. First and foremost we wanted to talk about the water temperature. With warm days ahead, we are expecting the water to be in the low to mid 70s. We will give you an updated temp on Friday night and on Saturday morning!
This particular swim has a long (100 yard) pier that we have to get by to get to the start. Due to this, for the adults, we are going to bring back a WAVE start for the event. We have a pretty even split of men and women, so we are going to load all of the men first in the water. That's right, we will have a mass start for this event (though this is probably be the only one we do for the series). Our distance from entering the water to get out to the swim start area is over 100 yards, so we want to make sure that we can get everyone launched in a timely manner.
Swimmers will start at a green buoy in the water and, at our command, will GO!!!! Swimming out to a buoy inside of the channel and turning RIGHT, keeping the buoy on their RIGHT shoulder. Swim out to the 2nd buoy and turn RIGHT again! Swim towards the beach area and look for the two orange buoys, marking a gap in the pylons, to allow you to come in and finish your swim on the beach! The course is a CLOCKWISE course, so all yellow buoys should be on your RIGHT side.
For the youth race, we will stay INSIDE the pylons, making a safe race. All of the youth will start on the beach and will swim in a clockwise direction too.
We can't wait to get in the water with you on Saturday morning. There will be plenty of time to get a little warm up swim prior to the start.
The adult MALE start will be at 9am, and then we will load the FEMALE racers in and get you started shortly after. Looking forward to getting back to racing!!!
Stay tuned for the Thursday email, where we will talk about the bike course!
