Details
Prior kayaking experience is required and must be 16 years of age or older.
You will monitor our athletes during the race. You will be positioned around the entire course, and help guide straying swimmers back onto the course, while keeping spectator boats off the course. Kayakers are often the first point of contact for swimmers who are seeking assistance. You may provide a resting place for swimmers to momentarily catch their breath or a place to hold onto
while they massage out a cramp.
***Most Importantly*** You will have the lead responsibility for detecting swimmers in distress, making the initial contact and, if needed, initiating a rescue.***
You must be able to provide your own boat, paddle, whistle, and PFD (Personal Flotation Device). (If you have kayaking experience but do not have your own kayak, please note that in the
comments field when you register - we often have extra kayaks).
