Race Routes

The Treadhoofalon is primarily a relay type event, although we are VERY open to anyone who would like to complete the triathlon. We will send the horse riders off first by intervals. When the horse rider comes back, they will tag off to another team member in a "neutral" zone to keep separation between the horses and bikes for safety. After the tag off is complete, the other competitors will take to the course. All segments will be timed for awards.

Below is a list of each of the routes that we will use. Please keep in mind that these bike/running routes cannot be ridden at any time. Currently the McClellan Horse Camp trails are for equestrian use only. We are working with BCHA McClellan on a time for an official pre ride of the course and will let you know when the date and time will be. We are very thankful they are allowing us to do that this year!

*Mileage on the strava map routes is a little off, working on getting that corrected. Mileage in description is correct, but the maps will give you an idea.*

Horse Route - On this 4 mile route, most of the first half is climbing up hill so pace yourselves. The trails are rocky! Shoes or Boots are highly recommended! The routes are marked with arrow signs at intersections. Single track trails have yellow squares on the trees.

Bike Route - This exciting 8.5-mile mounting bike route will start out on horse trails that are old school single track then transitions to the modern flowing McClellan bike trails and finishes on old-school single-track horse trails. At the end there is steep chunky downhill, use caution! Trails are marked with signs and tape, follow the arrows! The single-track horse trails have yellow squares on the trees. There are 2 water stops on this route and you will hit one coming and going.
