Pre-Race Information (email sent 8.26.24)
This weekend start your holiday off right with a fun and sometimes a little crazy triathlon with a little chopping fun!
Race details are as follows - Also a great pre race moment too right?
What: Tomahawk Sprint and Super Sprint Triathlon presented by Personal Best Racing part of the C. John Chavis, Attorney Grand Shizzle Pool Sprint Series
Where: Loudon Co Splash Pad, 1051 Mulberry St Loudon, TN 37774
Parking will be at the High School Parking lot located behind the splash pad and also the parking in front of the tennis courts. Do not park in the main parking lot (it will be blocked anyway, but don't run over my cones)
Packet Pickup will be Saturday morning beginning at 5:45am until 7:20am at the picnic shelter next to the parking lot. YOU NEED YOUR ID. You should seriously know this by now....its a USA Sanctioning rule and if the staff person is told to ask for it, they ask for it. DO NOT give them a hard time.
You will receive your schwag, and any other goodies we got you, a bib and a timing chip. Put the timing chip on your left ankle. The bib will be worn during the run portion and then you can wear it to lunch so people wonder why you're numbered.
Also body marking will take place with your bib number on each arm and either an S or SS on your leg representing which event you are doing (hint: Sprint or Super Sprint)
Transition will open at 5:45am. WE ask that you pick up your packet before going into transition. Also, only the athlete is allowed in transition. It's really awkward for me to tell your mom to get out of transition, but I will if she's not racing!
Race start time is 7:30am and swimmers will be lined up by self seeded swim time. The Super Sprint will line up first and go in the pool followed by the Sprint. There are different entry points, but we will ask you over and over again to make sure you are in the right line. Unless you are not paying attention then you will just do 3 triathlons in a row on Saturday
The Sprint is a traditional triathlon with a 150 snake swim in the pool NO DIVING, a 2 loop bike course of 5 miles each totaling 10 miles.......screeeeechhhhhh
***GUYS, GALS, GUYS AND GALS.....I've seen too much out in the world with new and seasoned triathletes. These roads are OPEN, there are CARS....we do not have any more right to be all over the road than any other time just because we are racing. These cars don't know us from anyone else on a bike. We are not privy to the right of way either. Please please please for the love of spandex- PAY ATTENTION TO THE TRAFFIC and FOLLOW ALL TRAFFIC RULES. BE your own accountability partner!****
Ok now back to the RUN course of 2 loops of 2k each totaling 4k or 2.85(ish) miles. NO HEADPHONES....NONE NONE NO HEADPHONES. If you wear headphones you get DQ'd. End of story. I love ya, and I want you to follow the rules and be safe.
The Super sprint is 3 times the madness with a snake swim of 90 yards, a bike loop of 5 miles and a run loop of 2k. Then back to transition. For the SUPER SPRINT ONLY, you will have a special entrance that is yours and only yours that you will go in after you finish the first and second run. This is called T3. For the rest of the time you follow traditional transition flow.
Bike in and Bike out will be on the West end of transition....if you are like me and directionally challenged but can read on a 5th grade reading level there is a sign that says BIKE OUT.
Swim in and Run out will be on the East side, or leave your compass at home and read the sign that says RUN OUT.
We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday!
