Hosting Venue
Due to recent development out of our control, Firecracker 5K and 1M Fun Run had to change location.
And it is a great new location:
The Ice House is an Austin style beer garden and restaurant, located in the heart of uptown Dallas on the Katy Trail. A fifty foot long bar boasts fifty beers on tap, ranging from Texas Domestics to Regional and International Imports on the draw. We have been awarded the best patio in Dallas with our open seating communal beer garden.
The Run
5K and 1M Fun Run - will take place on the beautiful Katy Trail. Water stops will be available on the 5K course at mile 1 and mile 2.
The Swag
Brunch Pass - All American hot dog and beer or mimosa for those over 21 years of age (must be 21 bring I.D.)

The Fun
There will be a Canine Costume Contest. Dress up your pup and come on for a walk! The best dressed up pups will be awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place!
Proceeds will support Operation Kindness assisting animals in need of veterinary care, and home.
Virtual Race
Virtual participants will receive a t-shirt and finisher medal via mail during the week after the race.

Course Notes
The use of personal music devices during the race is strongly discouraged. To enjoy all that participating in a race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, race management encourages a headphone-free environment during the event.
Safety has always been, and will continue to be, a top priority. Please be mindful of the other participants and respect the race personnel to ensure a safe and enjoyable race for everyone.
Per USATF safety rules and insurance, no pets are allowed on the 5K and 10K course. Strollers are allowed to be safely integrated into the event.
Pets are welcome in the 1M fun event.
The minimum age to participate in the 5K is 6 and no minimum age for the 1 mile.
Race Day Management reserves the right to change any event course at any time due to safety, weather conditions, or other production concerns.
Parking
There will be 70 VALET parking spots available at the venue. Valet parking will cost $5 per car. Other parking on the streets by the venue.

1M fun run is not timed, no awards, just fun.
Timing
The 5K is a chip timed event. Each participant will be required to wear a timing chip in order to be counted in the results. We will be using disposable timing tags for this event that you will receive with your bib at packet pickup.
The 1M fun run will not be timed.
Please wear your bib visibly on the FRONT for timing purposes

Katy 5K 2024
Celebrate 26 years of true Dallas spirit with the Katy 5K! Join us as we run/walk through beautiful Uptown, Turtle Creek, and onto the Katy Trail with a high-energy finish line!
You’ll be rewarded with free food from 30+ local restaurants, two free Michelob Ultra (21and over), fantastic music, and an epic picnic party to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Katy 5K. Join us for an exciting run, a delightful picnic, and a party you won’t forget!
Katy Trail Best Practices for Running/Walking Groups
Best Practices: Please pick and choose them for your event.
When walking or running in a group, please don't take up more than two spots side-by-side. This allows others to easily pass by.
You have two surfaces to choose from: the red surface is only for runners and walkers, while the concrete surface is for runners, walkers, and cyclists.
Do not clog the trail. When you are finished with your run or walk, please step off the trail to allow others to pass.
Please watch out for cyclists. Especially in large groups, they tend to ride quickly and may approach from behind without warning.
When you're out for a run, be sure to announce "Passing on the left" when you're approaching other pedestrians. This gives them a heads up and prevents any collisions.
Running/Walking parents, keep a close eye on your little ones! The trail can get busy, so make sure they stay right by your side.
Enjoy your music but keep those headphones at a volume that allows you to stay aware of your surroundings.
Please look up from your phone while on the trail.
When taking selfies, make sure you aren't causing a roadblock for others to pass by.
Remember, walkers and runners should use the pedestrian path, while the shared path is for everyone.
