SwimRun Tennessee - Cancelled for 2020
New Date: October 3, 2021
SwimRunners,
The health and safety of athletes, officials, volunteers and event organizers is a priority for Peak Racing.
After meeting internally, with medical professionals and the local authorities, we have made the collective and difficult decision to not produce the 2020 SwimRun TN event. As a fellow athlete, I understand exactly what this means.
We value our SwimRunners and always make safety our number one priority.
With the current challenges we are experiencing, we cannot ensure that medical and safety personal will be available. We cannot ensure that aid stations and water safety crews will be available to meet our high standards.
We do intend to race again in October 2021 and continue the tradition. We are already making plans to reserve the 2021 date secure the proper permits as soon as the government allows.
Peak Racing has already invested a lot this event and as we say, "The money has already been spent."
As a fellow SwimRunner, full-time race director and small business owner, these are unprecedented times. However, I believe strongly, that if we continue to follow the guidance of the health experts, this will be a distant memory akin to so many other noteworthy moments in history.
Thank you.
Please be safe and smart, and we hope to see you all in 2021.
Tony Hammett, Race Director

Description
Adventure. Endurance. Challenge.
This is SwimRun.
It started as a bet in 2002 and grew into the now famous Öttilö race series.
It is an endurance event completed in teams of two. Participants will alternate between overland runs and open water swims all while staying within 10-meters of their partner. Camp YI, Long Hunter State Park and Lake Percy Priest is a fantastic place for a SwimRun event in Tennessee – Sunday, October 4, 2020.
Teams include all-male, all-female, and mixed-gender and will remain with their teammate for the entire race. This is not a relay. We also have a SOLO division.Participants will swim in their shoes and run in their wetsuits to minimize transition time and gain a competitive edge.
Located just 35-minutes from the Nashville Airport, Camp YI is a 175-acre Youth Summer Camp that is graciously opening their doors and property up to use for the weekend. We want you all to feel like kids again! It is situated on a peninsula overlooking Percy Priest Lake, where you will be swimming.
Races:
Long Course – Approximately 13.5 Miles (11.5 miles of running and 2 miles of swimming)
Short Course – Approximately 8.5 Miles (7 miles of running and 1.5 miles of swimming)
You will experience the beauty of the surrounding areas and get the try "Otillo", or Island to Island feel. The Long Course will experience four islands and the Short Course three. Both short and long course events will start and end at Camp YI. After leaving Camp YI, athletes will swim across the peninsula to Long Hunter State Park, run their trail, then jump back into the water as you island-hop back to Camp YI.
Camp Accomodations:
You can stay at one of the rustic, open-air cabins for a small fee. There is no electricity or a bathroom in these — yes, we mean rustic — but there are a few bathhouses where you can shower and clean up.
Additionally, you can tent camp or bring your RV for a small fee too. There are no hook-ups as it is in an open field at the camp.
