FAQs

What time should I arrive?

Registration opens at 6:15am and closes at 7:30am, but the sooner you arrive, the better! There is a bit of a walk from the parking area to the Recreation Center (where Registration is held) and then again to the lakefront where the race begins.

Where should I park?

Spectators who arrive before 7:45 and all athletes should use the 38th St parking area on race morning. Spectators arriving after 7:45 am must use the parking area accessed just north of the YMCA main entrance on 39th St. Please come in at that point from the north and M-89, not from “G” Avenue. Handicapped accessible parking is available at the Recreation Center.

What's in my race day packet?

You'll receive your race day packet during registration on race day. It includes your bib number, pins to fasten your bib to your shirt (only required during the run), a swim cap, your t-shirt, and your timing chip.

How will I be timed?

In your race packet you will receive your timing chip, which will be encoded with your name, race number and wave start. The chip is attached to a strap and you will fasten that strap around your ankle. A scanner is located in the mats positioned at each transition (start, swim finish, bike start, bike finish, run start, and run finish/finish line). This scanner reads the chip and records the time as you cross each mat.

When will I get my results?

Results will be posted at the event. A complete listing will also be posted online on our RunSignup page after the Shermanator.

Where can my family and friends stand to support me?

Family and friends can cheer you on at the finish line. From there, they can see you transition to and from each course! Everyone except athletes and volunteers must be out of the transition area by 7:00am.

Can I wear a wetsuit?

Yes! We have no restrictions on wetsuits.

What if I have a problem on the course?

Pedal Bicycle will be on site race morning to assist with any last minute bike issues. If a medical or health issue arises while you are on the course, we have EMTs standing by to assist you.

Should I bring my own snacks?

You can bring your own snacks, but we do provide food after the race, like granola bars, bagels, and fruit. There will also be two water stations along the run course to keep you hydrated.

What can't I bring to the race?

Cigarettes, alcohol, and pets (except service animals) are not allowed on race day. Athletes should also leave digital audio or portable media players at home, as listening to music is not allowed on the course for the safety of all of the athletes.

Can I train at Sherman Lake prior to race day?

Since we have children in camp up until race day, we do not allow on-site training or venue visits. If you're looking for a place to train outdoors, we recommend the nearby Fort Custer State Recreation Area or Ross Township Park on Gull Lake. Click here for the Fort Custer trail map!
