**CHECK IN IS AT 10:00 A.M. ON THE SIDEWALK IN FRONT OF THE PRESIDENT’S HOUSE
After years away, one of Clemson’s most legendary races is finally making a comeback! The RC & MoonPie Presidential Downhill Mile is a fast, fun, charitable, and uniquely Southern tradition where runners take on a one-mile downhill sprint—with a sweet challenge.
Before the race starts, participants eat a MoonPie at the start line after being sent off by a very special guest. At the halfway mark (Sikes Hall), they eat another moonpie and drink a Cola before making their final push to the finish, where their final Cola or a celebratory beer (21+) awaits as their reward.
This race, starting near the President’s House and finishing at the Esso Club, honors former Clemson President R.C. Edwards and his wife, Louise “Moonpie” Edwards, keeping their legacy alive through one of Clemson’s most beloved traditions.
Now, we’re bringing it back—bigger and better than ever. Join us as we celebrate the return of a Clemson classic and honor the leaders who helped shape our university!
All donations and proceeds from the race will go to support the Clemson University Greatest Needs Fund. These gifts allow Clemson to see and fill needs that arise, whether it be student-driven ideas, new opportunities, or relief in times of distress.
