Lake Stevens Triathlon + Duathlon & Aquabike

Sat September 7, 2024 Lake Stevens, WA 98258 US Directions

FAQs

Here are some questions we get a lot or on occasion:

1) Do I need to wear a wetsuit?
We follow USAT guidelines. Wetsuits are required if the water is below 60.6 deg F and they are allowed up to 78 deg F water.
The lakes around here don't usually go outside of the "OK" temperature range. It's always your choice and what you feel most comfortable with.
All of the USAT rules can be found here: https://www.usatriathlon.org/multisport/rules
For Bonney Lake: The swim is a waist level water start, with expected water temperatures of 68-72.
For Lake Stevens: The swim starts in chest high to full body high water, with expected water temperatures of 68-72.

2) I need to change from Triathlon to Aquabike or Olympic to Sprint - at the same race.
Fill out this quick form for Bonney Lake Tri + Du + Aquabike changes:

For Lake Stevens Tri + Du + Aquabike changes:

(Both forms close 48 hours before the event.)

3) When do I need to let you know if I want to change my distance or discipline?!?
Before the start of the race. The best time would be no later than when you pick up your packet.

4) Where can I park at the event?
Check out the Day of Race page on the site, image towards the bottom of parking.

5) I really would like to swim with my friend or family or significant other but we're in separate waves. Can we switch?

Please realize, I spend a decent amount of time shuffling around age groups to equal out the waves.

I will not reassign one person from an age group to a different wave. Your time starts when your age group, category and distance goes.

(It is your responsibility to know when your wave is and that you start on time.)

If you really must swim together, both will start in the later wave. Both need to have the same swim cap - of later wave. Time will start for the swimmer of the earlier wave before they start swimming.

For example, Billy is in Wave 2 at 8:03 and wants to go with Bob who is in Wave 4 at 8:09. Billy can wait for Wave 4 and swim with Bob. (Wearing wave 4 cap color). Billy will start the race already having 6 minutes on their time. It's your choice.

I will consider doing a friend & family wave in the future.

6)Why do you guys put on these events?!?!

Well, when Deanna and Rory were (literally) moving on, we knew that we didn't want the events to go away. We want to provide these opportunities for others to race in these events!

We also knew we could. We have done just about every aspect of a tri. Competed in it, timed it, volunteered at it and put it on!

7) I haven't heard from you...why?!?!
Well, believe it or not, this is supposed to be a part time job for me! I also try to pay attention to my daughter sometimes. :-) If the email is of an urgent matter, I will respond asap.
Also, is your question answered on this page? Help me - help you!
Also, Also, the day before an event and the day of the event, the best way to contact me is to come see me! :-)
