Start:

Packet Pick-up:
Packet pick-up: Saturday July 11th at the Blacksburg Aquatic Center from 4–6pm.
Sunday Check-In, July 12th, 6:30am-7:30am, Blacksburg Aquatic Center. You MUST check in by 7:30am, as the registration coordinator needs to match volunteers up with athletes.
Swim:
9–10 year old swim 100 yards. Participants start from the far (opposite of the zero-entry side) end of the pool. Depending on the number of participants they may stay in the same line or may do a snake swim. We aim to try to keep them in the same lane, rather than a snake swim, if at all possible.
All participants will exit the swim from the zero-entry end of the pool and proceed to the transition area (TA). Volunteers will help the participants exit the pool.
Transition 1:
All participants will exit the pool via the front door, run along the flags and into the transition area. As they reach the transition area, the bicycles will be in chalk boxes on the left, furthest section from the entrance of the TA. Each age-group transition area will be clearly marked.
Volunteers will help the participants find their bikes and exit the transition area.
Bike:
9–10 year olds: 3 laps (~1.5 mile bike) – All participants will exit the TA on the upper end nearest the BAC parking lot for the bike.
Exits and Entrances will be clearly marked. The bike course goes right, through the BAC parking lot, right to the service road towards the tennis courts, right at the tennis court parking lot, around the parking lot in a rectangle, right onto the service road back towards the BAC, left into the BAC parking lot and straight through to the Rec Center parking lot, left in front of the Rec Center and around the parking lot through the BAC parking lot again for an additional 2 (two) laps. There will be a volunteer at this point to help guide them on whether to take another lap or enter the transition area.
Transition 2:
Returning back to the transition area, participants will return their bikes to their original spot. Volunteers will help the participants park their bikes and exit the transition area.
Run:
9–10 year olds: 3 laps (~.75-1 mile). All participants will exit the transition area on the lower end of the TA for the run.
After exiting the transition area, participants will follow the flags to the rec fields and then around the rec fields, taking a counter clockwise direction around the field. After circling the field, participants will go right to begin an additional 2 (two) laps.Again, volunteers will be stationed at this point to help guide athletes in the correct direction.
