Description
2022 Lakeside of the Smokies will feature the same venue as last year, again moving across the bridge from downtown Dandridge to The Point Resort. This has been the ideal venue since the inception of Lakeside of the Smokies, and drew rave reviews in its debut last year. Those of you who missed last year due to the uncertain conditions will see a huge improvement over the Majestic Bay "neighborhood" venue from the earlier years of the event.
The race distances are the same, with LOTS again offering the 750 meter Swim/16 mile Bike/3 mile Run sprint option, in addition to the Olympic distance (1.5k S/40K B/10kR) option. The Olympic distance race features 2 lap counter clockwise triangular open water swim , followed by a rolling loop bike course, capped off by a challenging run through town and across the famous Dandridge levy (aid stations ~every mile). The sprint option is a condensed version of the Olympic course--one lap swim, a "short cut" version of the Olympic bike and a flatter run course. Performance technical shirts, NEXT LEVEL tank option for women, race logo DeFeet socks, unique “wooden paddle" awards, and post-race food & BEER highlight the Jefferson Co. event. Expected participation--175
With the race moving back to mid May from the 2021 June date, the water temp is expected to be 72-75, and almost definitely wetsuit legal. Wetsuit legality will be determined on race morning according to USAT guidelines.
Lakeside of the Smokies is a USAT sanctioned event. All participants must have a current USAT number or pay a one day license fee ($15). The one day fee, if needed, is automatically added during the online registration process. Participants must also present a valid form of ID at packet pickup or when checking in on race morning.
Thursday (5/12) Packet pickup/late registration--TBA
Friday (5/13) packet pickup/late registration, race venue (The Point Resort), from 4 to 7pm.
Day of race registration and packet pickup is available at the race site, starting at 6am. Olympic distance individual is $90, sprint distance individual is $80. Day of race Olympic relays will be $110, sprint relays $100.
