Description

Located on the outskirts of Allentown, PA at Lake Nockamixon State Park the Independence Triathlon is a great early season race to check your legs.  Just 90 minutes from New York and 60 minutes from Philadelphia, this race is easy to get to and so much fun to race! Athletes will swim one or two 750 meter laps in the crisp, fresh waters of Lake Nockamixon (70’sh) then race Sprint or Olympic distance races on the closed bike course.  Yup, the local fire police shut down the well paved, rolling roads for the race; it’s 4 lanes wide and car free.  Lastly, there’s a scenic, rolling run course on the shoulder of 563.  This is a great early season event and is not to be missed.  Plus, Allentown, PA is a pretty fun town with lots of things to do including mountain bike trails, rail trails, Dorney Park and more.  Find more things to do HERE, and make a “race-cation” out of it!

Race Comments

Be part of the great experience. Here are some comments from last year’s race.

"Independence Triathlon is a well run, safe, and fun race! The swim is in a clean lake and the bike and run on well paved CLOSED roads! You can't beat this venue for the beauty and the course."                Bib #10

"This was a well run race. Very organized with great volunteers. The swim course was marked very well and the bike and run were challenging but fair. Great race overall "                          Bib #348

"I've been doing races in Nockamixon for going on 2 decades now. I love where this was located. It couldn't be more perfect and I did the other race series that goes on in the park for over 10 years. Very, very well done and even the parking was creative and contributed to the course. That was absolute genius to have the run go around the parked cars. Honestly, absolutely brilliant."                   Bib #37

Swim Start

Time Trial Swim Start: Kinetic Multisports races utilize a time trial swim start. We'll start two (2) athletes at a time every few seconds. Athletes line up based on swim and overall finish times, faster up front, slower in the back to create a smoother race for everyone.

Elite Box Start: In conjunction with our time trial swim starts we are excited to announce the official addition of the Elite Box Start at select races. If you are in contention to get Top 20 Overall Male/Female or just want to race up front, this is for you. Simply work your way to the front of the swim start area on race day. We'll get you lined up and started first, then athletes two at time every few seconds thereafter. The Elite Box Start concept worked well at many races last year and we are excited to add this feature to more races.
