Description

Your island escape awaits!  Join us at the South Seas Captiva Island Triathlon and swim in the pristine waters of the Gulf of Mexico, bike on a closed-course (to vehicular traffic) and enjoy a beautiful run on Florida's Gulf Coast. This beginner friendly event will take place on September 8, 2024 and will feature a Super Sprint for beginners (200 yard Swim, 5 mile Bike, and a 1.5 mile run), and a Sprint distance triathlon, duathlon and aquabike (Tri: .25 mile swim,10 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run -  Duathon: 1 mile run, 10 mile bike, and a 3.1 mile run - Aquabike: .25 swim, and a 10 mile bike, no run).

Bring the whole family! We will be having a family friendly 5K run or walk on Saturday evening at 5:00pm!

Only 45 minutes, yet a world away, Captiva Island is connected to Florida’s mainland via Sanibel Causeway and a small bridge over Blind Pass, joining it to Sanibel Island. Tucked away at the northern end of the five-mile long, one-half-mile wide Captiva Island, South Seas is between Pine Island Sound and the Gulf of Mexico, ensconced by two-and-a-half miles of powder-white beaches lapped by turquoise tides.

Come for the race and stay for the weekend!  Presenting classic island charm, the 330-acre South Seas is nestled among mangroves with more than half of the resort a dedicated wildlife preserve and estuary. World-renowned fishing, boating, and yachting, and discovering storied barrier islands are among the unforgettable experiences of a South Seas guest. The resort has been a cherished destination for more than 75 years.
Throughout the race weekend we will have South Seas event activities around our resort for individuals and families to enjoy.

IMPORTANT!

SUNDAY, SEPT. 8TH ROAD CLOSURE: Captiva Drive closed at Blind Pass beginning at 6:45am. This is the main road onto Captiva Island from Sanibel. The road will re-open at 9:00am.

As you may know, South Seas Captiva suffered immense loss as a result of Hurricane Ian in 2022. Consequently, there is still a lot of work to be done on the island. As a result, parking is extremely limited. Car-pooling is required. Spectators should ride with athletes. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Anyone not staying at South Seas must park in the designated parking areas outside the resort gates and ride the trolley to the Start/Finish. Athletes will need to ride their bikes from the parking area, to transition (1.5 miles). You will not be allowed to drive to the transition area to drop off your bike (unless you are staying inside the South Seas gates). The trolley has limited capacity and will start shuttling at 5:00am. The last trolley will pick up at the gate at 6:30am. You must be at the resort prior to 6:30 to get to the venue via trolley on time.

Island 5K

Held in conjunction with the South Seas Captiva Island Triathlon, on Saturday, September 7 at 5 in the evening, our 5k course at South Seas Captiva is designed to showcase the island's stunning natural beauty.
