Description
A sprint triathlon set in beautiful DeFuniak Springs, FL. Starting with a 600 yard swim in the second most round lake in the world, followed by 16 mile bike ride into the scenic country, followed by a 5k around the lake through historic Victorian style homes surrounding the lake. Come join us for the inaugural version of what is sure to be a reoccurring spot on your race calendar. Plan on staying the day, Lakefest is a day about the water, kayak and stand up paddle board races, food, live entertainment, along many other events involving our wonderful lake.

Participation Rules
2021 DeFuniak Springs Triathlon Participation Policies
Competition Rules:
1. Have fun. The sole purpose of this race is for the participants to have a good time and in the spirit of that we expect sportsmanship at all times.
2. In order to qualify to win the race or your age group, you will have to complete the race in the fastest times in either your category or overall.
3. No drafting in the cycling portion please, again this falls in the sportsmanship category. For your own safety and that of the participants around you, please do not draft another cyclist.
4. Wet suits will be legal.
Transfers:
If you are unable to race, your registration cannot be sold or transferred to another person.
DO NO transfer your number to any other athlete or take a number from anyone.
Timing Chip Return:
This event will be professionally timed by Gulf Sport Timing. Athletes HAVE to wear a timing chip during the entire event to be counted as part of the competition. All timing chips MUST be returned following the event. Any chips not returned will incur a $40.00 fee.
Refunds:
There will be no refunds, no exceptions.
Weather Policy:
Safety is our primary concern. Should thunderstorms arise our plan is to delay the start of the race until it is possible to complete it safely. There is no alternate “make-up” date in the event of a thunderstorm that encompasses the entire day. Rain alone will not cancel the race.
Parking
We will have 3 parking lots available to us. 1. The First United Methodist Church parking lot. This lot is the closest to the start/finish line and will fill up quickly the morning of the race. 2. The First Baptist Church parking lot, this is approximately 2 city blocks away. 3. The grass city park on Plateau Ave., approximately 3 city blocks away from the start/finish line. Stay tuned to your email, the week of the race we will send out detailed information about the address of these parking lots and performing bike/gear drop offs the morning of the race.
