May 18, 2022 marked the beginning of my Breast Cancer journey. After noticing a small, almost unnoticeable, lump in my left breast following a self exam and then a mammogram, I was diagnosed with Stage 1B, Grade 3 Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Today, I am a proud survivor and thriver. I am celebrating 1 year and 3 months of survivorship after 5 months of IV chemotherapy, a lumpectomy, 14 rounds of radiation, and 4 months of oral chemotherapy. Cancer doesn't discriminate, and it gives no choice. But it has given me a different perspective on what matters. I am a mom of 2 precious, young children. I have been married for 9 years to the love of my life and best friend. I am thankful to be alive and to be able to enjoy each day with the ones I love!
TNBC accounts for approximately 15 percent of invasive breast cancers. It is an aggressive type of tumor with a faster growth rate, higher risk of metastasis and recurrence risk.
Breast cancer subtypes are determined by the presence or absence of hormone receptors (estrogen, progesterone, her2). TNBC lacks all three. It is an aggressive type of tumor with a faster growth rate, higher risk of metastasis and recurrence risk. Treatment may be less available now, but join me in raising funds to help progress research for TNBC.
