Swim Course

Kayak/Canoe Support

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

Assist participants by being in a Kayak, Canoe or SUP in the water to help in case of emergency. Must supply your own Kayak, Canoe or SUP and life jacket, paddle, etc. Note: Swift water experience not required but helpful.

This task will take place in the Ohio River at the Riverpark Place Marina. Paddlers will park and put in at the Louisville Row Club.

Make sure that participants are in the correct location according to race distance: Sprint or Olympic.

Volunteers for this task can expect to get wet. May also assist with crowd control. Will also assist in breakdown of swim exit area following the last swimmer out of the water.

Ideal location for 3-4 Volunteers with assertive, yet outgoing personalities! Will assist with crowd control, allowing spectators to cross the greenway when no runners are present. Runners veer right for second loop or left to the finish line.

Shady location on the greenway where the Olympic/Sprint splits just before the Finish Line chute.

Water Stations

Water Station 1

Prepare and hand out water/sports drink to passing participants.
Clean and pickup cups for disposal. Cheer on and encourage participants.

This will be the first water station on the sidewalk about a quarter mile from Transition along River Road.

Details

Assist with setting up the post race food area. Check in racers and volunteers.
Athletes must have a Food ticket from their race bib or wrist band to enter food area. Each racer is limited to one sandwich. Participants are welcome to take more than one beverage, for example, a water and a sports drink or a water and soft drink.

Photo Booth Host
