Description
Join the Captain on September 8th! Your Mates and Mini Mates will swim in the lazy river, bike through the resort, run through the tropical gardens, and finish it off with a party in the waterpark for the entire family. Each athlete gets admission to the waterpark, along with free admission for three other family members or buddies. It’s a fun race in a beautiful resort - come for race day or stay at the hotel and make it a family weekend getaway! Parents and older siblings or teammates can get in on the act too. Our Deckhand volunteers get to experience the race right along with the athletes. It's a great time for some family and team bonding!

The Captain's Wave:
The Captain's Wave is for those athletes that have their sea legs and are experienced triathletes wanting to race, and is designed to add additional safety and fairness within the races. If your athlete is on a racing team, has a coach, routinely places in other youth races, and wants to test their skills against the other experienced athletes, then the athlete may qualify to compete in the Captain's Wave. Your athlete should be familiar with all aspects of triathlon, including the rules and regulations for youth triathlons (drafting, spacing, passing, etc), and should have competed in a number of triathlons prior to this event. If you’re not sure which division is right for your athlete, send the Captain an email and we’ll help you figure it out.
The Captain's Waves have separate awards from the age group division and only compete against each other. The athletes are numbered from oldest to youngest, and awards are based on the number of participants.
USAT Memberships:
Athletes must have a USAT membership that is current as of September 8th, 2024. The registration process will give you the opportunity to purchase or renew one. If your athlete has a membership that is current as of the day you register, but will expire prior to race day, you can still register now. Go to the USAT membership website and click renew - you will be able to renew the membership early and then successfully register for Captain Kids.
Deckhand Volunteers:
Join the crew as a Deckhand Volunteer! We can't hold a great race without your help! It's a great way to experience the race for parents, spectators, and even older siblings - and you'll get a great shirt too! Head to the volunteer tab and sign up to help the Captain make it a great day.
