Nearly 8% of residents in Dane County are facing food insecurity. The pandemic has been especially tough on families, and rising inflation is making it harder to manage unexpected expenses. In 2023, Badger Prairie Needs Network (BPNN) provided food assistance to 81,000 individuals, significantly contributing to closing the food gap in the county. Those most affected include children, seniors, people with disabilities, and communities of color. Remarkably, over 70% of the households we serve have at least one working adult, with many juggling two jobs. Chances are, you know someone who could use assistance.
Since 1986, BPNN has been dedicated to serving the community. We operate one of the busiest food pantries in Dane County, entirely staffed by volunteers. By tackling poverty, we can eliminate hunger. In addition to food assistance, we offer a Saturday community meal, legal advocacy, career development opportunities, nutrition education, and access to on-site social workers through Joining Forces for Families.
