Description
Please note: We are on the east side of Lake Almanor in the Lake Almanor Country Club (LACC). This is a gated community. You will need to present your proof of registration (which will be sent to you via email in the days prior to the race) either on your phone or in printed form at either of the two gates, located on Clifford Dr. and Peninsula Dr.
Friday, August 23rd:
We strongly encourage participants to pick up their packets from 4 PM-7 PM at Clifford's Restaurant and Sugar Pine Lounge in the Lake Almanor Country Club (951 Clifford Dr., Westwood, CA 96137). Here, you will pick up your timing chip and race essentials as well as drop off your race equipment. Bibs and equipment stickers will be included in the packets and must be attached to bikes/kayaks/paddleboards for identification purposes prior to the start of the event. Participants are also encouraged to decorate or mark their equipment so they can easily be identified to avoid confusion during rushed transitions.
After picking up your packet at Clifford's, you can drive the short distance to drop off your kayak/paddleboard. Bikes will be dropped off at the start/end location of the race (Rec 1) on race morning but, to ease race morning chaos, kayaks/paddleboards can be staged the night before at Rec 2. Please reference our map of the LACC below. Make sure to attach the identifying numbers onto your race equipment and leave necessary gear (floatation vest, whistle) with your kayak/paddleboard prior to dropping it off with our volunteers. You will place your own equipment in our staging areas. We do have a team of individuals staying next to your equipment to guard them overnight.
Saturday, August 24th:
Packet pickup (for those who could not do so the night prior) begins at 8 AM at Rec 1 in the LACC. Your first priority will be to pick up your timing chip and packet. Attach the identifying numbers found in your packet to your equipment. Follow drop-off instructions from above.
If you were able to complete all steps the night before, all that's left for this morning is to stage your bike (and helmet, etc.) at Rec 1 when you arrive and you're good to go! We will be having opening ceremonies at Rec 1 beginning around 9 AM. At the start of the race (10 AM), a shuttle will transport kayak/paddleboard teamsters to Rec 2.
Be aware that we will have many photographers along the course taking pictures which we post to our social media pages. Unlike other sport events, we won't make you pay for your pictures!
Please be courteous to our dedicated volunteers guarding your bikes and, upon completion of the race, promptly retrieve your bike from Rec 2. If you are a bike teamster, please ride your bike the mile back to Rec 1 after completing the loop and passing off your timing chip to your partner.
