On Wednesday, January 1, 2025 Myself, Dan, and Dan’s uncle Frank will be participating in a polar plunge to support The Center for Coastal Studies! The Center for Coastal Studies is dedicated to understanding, preserving and protecting marine ecosystems and the coastal environment through applied research, education and public policy initiatives. CCS conducts research with emphasis on marine mammals of the western North Atlantic and on the coastal and marine habitats and resources of the Gulf of Maine.
You’ll notice our team name is Peace, Love, & Uncle Frank. 😅 This is actually part of a Secret Santa gift for Dan’s Uncle (who yes, is aware his New Years Day will involve a plunge in the ocean.) However, he doesn’t know our team name, and he doesn’t know the cause that this is for, as we’re aiming for this to be part of a Secret Santa surprise! To know Frank, is to know a man who sincerely cares about our planet, our oceans and wildlife more than he’d ever care about a material gift that could be purchased for him. Our hope and our goal is to start this team in his name, and collect as many donations & sponsors in his name as we can before Christmas, so that we can present him with the team name and final donation amount on Christmas Day and let him know what we were able to raise for the center of coastal studies in his name! If you’re still reading along, thank you for taking the time to do so! We know it’s a financially draining time of the year and we understand that not everyone can contribute but I truly appreciate everyone who’s able to either donate or share the post.
