Rip's Story

Welcome to my page for the 31st annual Lauren’s Run & Picnic!

If you're new here, here is my brave brother's story.

On Tuesday, July 30th 2024 Ripken was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Last summer after spending a weekend at the lake with friends, our parents noticed Ripken was acting a bit fussy, sluggish, wasn't sleeping well and had unusual bruising. After scheduling a doctors visit and an immediate referral to Scottish Rite, by morning Ripken had been diagnosed with Leukemia. The following week was spent in the hospital and while the news of childhood cancer is always devastating, everyone was putting their faith into Ripken fully recovering. With a treatment plan of 2.5-3 years and chemotherapy appointments set well in advance, within a months time Ripken made it into remission.

We feel blessed to say that over the past 7 months Ripken has handled all that his come his way like a champ. There is still a long road ahead as treatments continue, side effects persist and life for the moment remains "different"

Please join our efforts by running with us on Team "Rips for Rip" or donating to my page!
