Higher Ground’s mission is to expand purpose, possibilities, and hope for youth and families living in under-resourced Orange County communities. This is done by addressing the immediate needs of families and then providing long term tools and resources so they can thrive. Every year Higher Ground serves over 6,000 individuals through a wide variety of programs and services which include after-school/summer enrichment, mental health and wellness services, case management, workforce development initiatives, human trafficking prevention and basic needs/food assistance.

Higher Ground’s mission is only made possible because of the generosity of incredible individuals like you. The funds raised by this marathon will go directly towards helping youth and families in our Flourishing Families Program. Flourishing Families is a family assistance program that meets families where they are at. Participants in the program have faced an unforeseen life challenge such as a sudden illness, loss of a spouse or income, or a traumatic incident. Families are connected with a case manager and provided a small stipend for childcare or transportation, while they receive wrap-around services tailored to their needs. The goal is to support families safely through these critical situations. For example, this could mean helping a single mom who unexpectedly lost her husband, get connected with services that support her and her children with counseling, utilities and housing assistance, basic needs support and help finding and securing a job.
